Alderman Asks About Breed Specific Dog Ban
Jun, 25 2007 - 11:50 AM
CALGARY/AM770CHQR - Following a dog attack involving a city letter carrier last Tuesday, a Calgary alderman wants the city to look at a breed specific dog ban.
Ward 3's Helene Laroque told city council Monday morning there were 26 dog attacks involving letter carriers last year and that doesn't include Enmax, gas company or other workers going to homes.
Adminstrators say breed specific legislation was ruled out of Calgary's Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw, which was recently brought in after a massive review.
However, Laroque says she intends to pursue the issue further.
The owner of the 2 mastiffs involved in last week's incident has reportedly been charged.
